A fantastic one day course focusing on basic identification of native broadleaved trees in the winter season, involving a combination of field identification and class-room learning

Course description: 

On this course you will focus on identifying native broadleaved trees in winter using a range of key features, including buds, twigs, bark and fruits/seeds. It will also outline indicator tree species of ancient woodland habitats. The course will also interest those undertaking Phase 1 Habitat surveys and other botanical surveys, as well as providing an overview of different habitat types.

What do you need to know: No prior knowledge or experience is required. This course is ideal for those who have no or very little knowledge of tree and plant identification and want to learn more!

Instructor: Neill Talbot runs his own Ecological Consultancy, Avellana Ecology (https://www.avellanaecology.com), and also teaches a range of courses for the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (CIEEM). All materials and equipment provided.

What do you need to bring: You will need to bring appropriate clothing, sturdy footwear, snacks, drinks and a packed lunch. A magnifying instrument and a Notebook is also recommended, with clip-boards, hand-outs and other learning materials provided as necessary.
