Alexandra specialises in portraits of British farm animals aiming to capture the essence of their spirit and promote the individual within the herd with a view to greater consideration and understanding of our colourful world (www.alexandrawoods.com).

Alexandra will be leading the 3 day course which will start at Blenheim Palace in Oxfordshire and finish at the Cotswolds Discovery Centre in Northleach.

The theme of the first day is capturing the Capability Brown landscape at Blenheim Palace. You will experience and capture through drawing and painting your observations of these finely designed landscapes. During the day, you will be introduced to techniques for measuring proportions and angles, considering perspective and composition. With the ever changing natural light, you will also be encouraged to record an impression of the colours.

The second day is all about drawing exercises designed to help you record the wonderful characteristics of live, moving Cotswold Lion sheep in the landscape. A unique opportunity to see a rare breed in close proximity.

On the final day you will explore a range of materials and techniques, including print-making and drawing with the stitched line. You will use your drawings and paintings from days 1 and 2 to inspire you to create more beautiful images to take home.
