This is a 2 day dry-stone walling improvers course, ideal for people with some experience of dry stone walling or have attended one of the Board's Beginners courses.

Course Description: This course looks to build on the skills developed on the beginners course and aims to provides participants with a practical understanding of some of the more challenging techniques of building dry-stone walls. During the course students will have opportunity to further practice the skills that were taught on the beginners course as well as other more advanced skills of dry-stone walling. We deliberately limit the number of trainees on this course to nine people in order to enable the instructor to spend more time with each trainee and tailor the course to the different ability levels within the group.

What do you need to know: To book onto the improvers course you must already have taken the Dry stone walling for beginners course or have some previous experience of dry stone walling.

Instructor: John Hepworth began his career as a professional dry stone waller after he attended one of the Cotswolds Conservation Board's dry stone walling courses in 2006. 11 years on John now runs a successful dry stone walling business and has been instructing the Board's dry stone walling courses for the past 7 years.

What to bring on the day: All tools and materials will be provided, although you are welcome to bring your own walling hammer and gloves. You will need to bring: appropriate clothing, hard wearing footwear and a packed lunch.
